Haiku Hands

Haiku Hands are described as being “a thrilling pop hybrid,” with “the pure pop attitude of Charli XCX with the energy and swagger of The Beastie Boys.” However, it is difficult to box their music into just one or two genres. Therefore they are a unique band, as they aim to push the boundaries of genres, design, and social norms. In their music, they aim for not only themselves, but their audiences and listeners to feel free, warp their minds, and just generally have a good time.

My intention was to create a branding system that can be defined as hand-crafted meets refined. As they are a pop/dance group, they like to have fun on stage, and their music is very energetic. I wanted to reflect this in the collages, replicating their use of concealed identities, as well as adding small elements of humour. I also wanted to stick to a pastel colour palette, as it allows for the group to experiment, whilst also creating consistency at the same time. I also really reflected on the lyrics of their songs, as well as press interviews about them, and the music videos themselves in order to guide and influence me in creating the cover art.
